HG IBO Gundam Vidar vs Kimaris Vidar: Which 1/144 Kit to Build

Two Vidar kits, two different loadouts

The HG IBO line gives you two 1/144 kits tied to the same lineage, but they are not interchangeable builds. The HG IBO #027 Gundam Vidar and the HG IBO #035 Gundam Kimaris Vidar share scale, materials, and the Iron-Blooded Orphans license, yet their box contents push you toward different display and play choices. This comparison sticks to what the supplied records confirm so you can decide which one earns shelf space.

Weapons and included parts side by side

• HG IBO #027 Gundam Vidar: Box contents list pieces to build, Gundam Vidar, saber, rifle, two handguns, and an instruction manual.
• HG IBO #035 Gundam Kimaris Vidar: Box contents list pieces to build, Gundam Kimaris Vidar, drill lance, sword, sub-arm shield unit, drill knee blade, and instructions.

What the loadout means for your build

If you want a kit that reads as a agile, gun-focused mobile suit, the Gundam Vidar’s saber, rifle, and two handguns give you multiple handheld options. The Kimaris Vidar leans into heavier, more unusual equipment: a drill lance, sword, sub-arm shield unit, and drill knee blade. Those parts change the silhouette and the posing story you can tell, so pick the one whose weapons match how you like to display a kit.

The Action Base question

Both product records state that an Action Base is not included. That matters if you plan to pose either kit in flight or dynamic action. You will need to supply a stand separately, and because the records do not confirm which Action Base model fits, check the kit’s instructions or a dedicated stand guide before buying one. Neither kit is confirmed to include a stand, so budget for that accessory if aerial posing is part of your plan.

Instructions and language

Both records note that instructions may or may not include an English translation. That is a real limitation for builders who rely on English text. The kits are still buildable from the visual diagrams typical of the High Grade line, but if you need written English steps, plan to use a translation tool or reference a community build guide. This is not a defect unique to either kit; it is a shared uncertainty in the supplied information.

Decision rules for your next IBO build

• Choose HG IBO #027 Gundam Vidar if: You prefer a gun-centric loadout with a saber, rifle, and two handguns, and you want the lower catalog price of the two at USD 13.32.
• Choose HG IBO #035 Gundam Kimaris Vidar if: You want the distinctive drill lance, sword, sub-arm shield unit, and drill knee blade, and you are comfortable with the slightly lower catalog price of USD 12.20.
• Choose neither yet if: You need a confirmed English instruction manual or a confirmed included Action Base; the supplied records do not guarantee either for these kits.
