Compare the PG Unleashed RX-78-2 and PG Perfect Strike Gundam to decide which 1/60 Perfect Grade kit fits your build style and display goals.

Quick answer

Choose the PG Unleashed RX-78-2 if you want a modern engineering marvel with a single iconic design; pick the PG Perfect Strike Gundam if you prefer three-in-one striker pack versatility from Gundam SEED.

Engineering vs. versatility

The PG Unleashed RX-78-2 represents Bandai's latest 1/60 engineering with a pre-ordered release scheduled for mid-2026. Its internal frame and surface detail are designed to impress straight out of the box, but you get one fixed silhouette. The PG Perfect Strike Gundam, on the other hand, ships as a single kit that includes three complete Striker Weapon System modules—Aile, Sword, and Launcher—letting you swap between distinct combat looks without buying separate expansion sets.

Price and availability

The PG Perfect Strike is currently available at a catalog price of $193.28 (vs. $302.00), making it a more accessible entry into 1/60 building. The PG Unleashed is a pre-order at $217.00 (vs. $310.00) with an estimated US availability between September and November 2026. Both require a signature upon delivery and are not eligible for shipping discounts.

Trade-offs at a glance

Build complexity: PG Unleashed features a more intricate internal frame and layered armor design that rewards careful assembly. PG Perfect Strike uses a proven but less complex frame, so assembly is straightforward even for builders new to 1/60.
Display options: PG Perfect Strike gives you three distinct striker packs in one box, letting you rotate looks. PG Unleashed is a single, highly detailed representation of the RX-78-2; no alternate loadouts are included. If variety matters, the Perfect Strike wins. If a pure, cohesive design is your goal, the Unleashed delivers.
Timing: PG Perfect Strike is available now. PG Unleashed is a pre-order with an estimated release in late 2026. Both require signature on delivery and no shipping discounts. Order the Perfect Strike today or reserve the Unleashed now for later delivery.
