Warhammer 40000 Starter Set 11th Edition vs Other Starter Sets

Quick answer

The Warhammer 40000 Starter Set 11th Edition is the ideal entry point for new players, offering two complete armies and a rulebook at a competitive price. Other starter sets may offer different army compositions or larger model counts, but this set provides the most balanced start.

Trade-offs at a glance

• 11th Edition vs Single-Army Starter Sets: Single-army sets are cheaper but only provide one side of the conflict. The 11th Edition gives you two full armies, so you can play with a friend or practice both sides. Choose the 11th Edition if you want a complete game-in-a-box experience.
• 11th Edition vs Larger Battle Group Boxes: Larger boxes like the Siege Assault Battle Group offer more models but cost more and may include units you don't need. The 11th Edition is a focused, balanced starter force. If you're unsure which army to commit to, the 11th Edition lets you try both before expanding.
• 11th Edition vs Older Starter Set Editions: Older editions may be cheaper but lack updated rules or the latest model sprues. The 11th Edition has the current rulebook and modern miniatures. For the best rules and model quality, the 11th Edition is the clear choice.
